HOSPITAL EXPENSES
Save A Child Charitable Trust (S.A.C.T.) is a non-profit foundation, registered with the government of India. It has an agreement with the GBH American Hospital that permits the organization to use all the facilities of the hospital, provided that financially we are always self-sufficient. The average expense of scoliosis correction surgery is 2,00,000 to 2,50,000 Indian Rupees (4000 to 5000 US dollars) that are required to cover the cost of each patient undergoing deformity correction. This amount covers hospitalization, regardless the length of stay for the youngster, surgery and implant costs, other medical needs, teaching programs and administration. Our entire surgical, intensive care and nursing staff, standing now at a total of 50 people substantially volunteer their services and donate their time.

COST OF SPINE IMPLANTS
Scoliosis correction surgery requires very high quality imported titanium rods & screws which are very expensive. SACT has an understanding with International Implant manufactures like SYNTHES & MEDTRONIC. They supply SACT these implants at non-profitable rates. This discounted price of the implants is approximately INR 1,50,000/- normally 2,50,000. bar.

The demand for our services is overwhelming. Since our inception in July 2008 we have examined over 300 children and operated 4 children with complex spinal deformities like scoliosis and kyphosis. We have 6 children waiting for surgery but the lack of funds is a hindrance. We are planning to expand our services in order to achieve our goal of 24 operations annually by the year 2010 (0ne surgery/fortnight).
